Zinfandel 2022

Tastes like

This Zinfandel showcases beautiful dark raspberry and cranberry flavors, offering a generous amount of lush fruit for classic California Zinfandel lovers. Thanks to the natural shade from its hillside site, the wine develops a smooth peppercorn finish that adds depth without overpowering the fruit.

Vineyard

  • This vineyard site sits in Cloverdale, within the Alexander Valley AVA, on an east-facing hillside that soaks up morning sun and naturally shades itself in the late afternoon—helping the grapes ripen evenly without over-maturing. The upper hill, where the Zinfandel grows, is composed of red clay soils, while the lower blocks feature volcanic rock that nurtures Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouschet. Planted in the 1990s with Italian clones originally brought over by the local Cloverdale church, this three-acre site produces fruit with a refined balance of bright red fruit, spice, and a touch of peppercorn. The vineyard’s orientation and soils give the wine a character that leans closer to Primitivo than traditional California Zinfandel.
